I was going to say I completely agree, then I realized I have another caveat- Percy Harvin, but that ain't happening. One other thing I'd look at is a younger, proven slot guy that costs less than Moss. I really like Moss, but reducing age and cap without (much) of a dropoff seems logical.
Personally, I think they should use FA to sign a FS and bring back our key guys. I've never been a fan of the idea of getting Jennings/Bowe/Wallace etc., though I wonder if people have cooled on that given the reality of our cap situation.
As to LL's tweet about focusing on offense, I wouldn't be surprised (or upset) if they targeted WR, TE and tackle with their 1st picks. I would be appalled if they did this without addressing FS in FA though.

I can't believe Arthur Jones is so far off everyone's radar. Playing for Baltimore, he may or may not get resigned, depending what they do with some of their other pieces. I like him. He plays hard, and when I watch him he gets solid separation and uses his hands well. He plays well off of instincts and would help shore up our DE depth without being a big money sink. Also, he turned half the lights off in New Orleans during the Super Bowl. He could save us on energy costs.

I wouldn't be surprised by anything. At the end of day the draft is unpredictable and a team owes it to itself to build the best team. However I doubt the priority will place WR ahead of FS for example.
Lol I would love Harvin.
Getting younger and cheaper then Moss without losing production is easier said then done.
Everyone has been talking about our DE depth, but where is it lacking, exactly? We have Carriker, Bowen, Jarvis Jenkins and likely Kedrick Golston. Plus, with Nield back, you can throw Cofield into the rotation as well. With Nield and Cofield you have 6 guys to rotate through 3 positions. I'm not saying we can't improve on that position at all, but if we did add anyone in the draft I would imagine someone like Geathers to play NT, which would then free up Cofield even more to play DE. Just a couple thoughts.

You're not accounting for injuries in the least, and there's an assumption that Neild would be good enough to play NT. I actually believe that if there's a NT who is among our BPA in the draft available, that's a great route to go. But only if you shore up safety first.
In signing Jones, here's what I'd expect our lineup to be:
DE: Carriker, Bowen, Jones, Jenkins (Cofield)
DT: Cofield, Neild/Rook/Baker
Golston has been Steady Eddy for us, but Jones is better.
Jones would definitely depend on cost. If he cost too much, he'd be out. Cap is a real issue.
I still believe our prime move in FA HAS to be a safety.

I would also love to bring in someone to compete with Hall and Wilson, but I think that is more likely to be done through the draft. If we restructure Hall and/or extend Wilson, you won't want to pay starter money to bring someone in and force one of them into the nickel. If you address it through an early draft pick you can have them compete for the nickel position and in years 2-3 be ready to replace Hall once his contract expires. That is the cheaper way to do things, so I think it makes more sense to bring someone in to compete with Minnefield and Crawford and eventually have one of them move in to replace Hall.
I would love to address FS via free agency, but just not sure we can do it that cheaply or without losing one of our own FAs ... if we could find someone like Jairus Byrd in free agency to play FS I would, ideally, like to keep Meriweather around, but we could address SS in the 3rd/4th round, too.

Fortunately there are a lot of safeties on the free agent market and in the draft, so theoretically we should be in a good position, both from a bargaining standpoint and a drafting standpoint to get someone we like. Hopefully Moore, Goldson, Byrd all hit the market and drive the cost down a bit.
