True, I think I didn't explain myself well. I don't expect him to take Moss' job from him, just that I haven't seen many praising him, or giving him much of a chance (to take over for Moss for example). I like the kid, just curious what his limitations were perceived to be. My assumption is it's the route running (it sure ain't the speed). I would think crossing routes would work well with his speed, unless maybe he's too soft/small over the middle.
The problem with dumping Morgan is that the penalty for dumping him would still be too high to really work with. Cutting him wouldn't save much money.

Im good with giving Morgan $3.8...he's gonna want to prove himself for a big payday in '14. I expect a big season from him.
Kyle praises him all of the time. But if you think about it, unless Moss is out, there really isn't a good spot to put him with another 5'10" Wideout on the field. Maybe a 4 WR spread formation where he and Moss are both in the slot, but Kyle seems happy with him and Kyle is the WR guru of the coaching staff so I'd expect Alrick to be used quite a bit when the time does come.
Remember 2 things about Aldrick:
1) He was hand picked by Kyle
2) We cut Ryan Torain last year (2011) to move Aldrick up to the 53 from the practice squad when someone else tried to take him from us

You comment about him being "all right" though could arguably be used to paint his whole career. His stats this year are similar to his other years. Am not saying he's a bad signing when I look at it in a vacuum but looking it in in the context of the cap penalty -- their money might have been better served elsewhere. He is a good blocker and helps the run game -- that seems to be his biggest niche and perhaps he's an underrated part of the success of the run game -- Garcon is a beast of a blocker, too.
While one can debate the wisdom of the Morgan signing in the first place, it would make little sense at this point to cut him. We still owe him money, something like 2.3M I think, so we wouldn't be saving all that much, maybe a couple million. The only way it would make sense is if we believed we could get a better receiver than Morgan with the difference between what he's guaranteed and what he would be paid if we kept him. Considering that that number is fairly small, a couple million maybe, it is very doubtful.
The places where the money comes from this offseason is mainly 4 players, Hall, Fletcher, Moss, and Brown. What we do with their contracts will determine how much cap room we ultimately have, and we should remember that Fletcher and Brown still have some guaranteed money left on their contracts.

I don't really have any problems with the things you are saying, but wanted to point out that the vets get the praise for setting the bar for work standards. While the younger guys may just get that behind the seen. You know some times the way to motivate one guy is different from another. I believe Hank can develop into a number 2 long term. I think his coming back from the surgery to have a decent year is evidence enough of his work ethic, our players in the past (2 unnamed oft injured WR's) never seemed to do that.

A coaching nugget for some of you Crennel fans out there.SI's Peter King believes Romeo Crennel is the favorite to become the Saints' defensive coordinator.
After Sean Payton fired Steve Spagnuolo on Thursday, there was a barrage of information on Friday how the Saints were interested in Crennel and another former Patriot in Eric Mangini. Over the weekend, though, things went quiet. We should learn more this week on which direction the Saints are leaning.

I wouldn't be dissapointed or upset with those cuts, I love Tana, but I ***** about guys with emotional attachments to players all of the time on here, lol. And I wouldn't be upset with these three signings, but we almost have to get at least on CB in FA that could come in here and compete for a starting job. I know Safety is the biggest need, but man... we really need ONE consistent CB.
Also, I love the mock.
EDIT: And Orakpo, Jackson, Kindle, and So'oto will vastly improve the pass rush and play making ability in the LB core, IMO. That's a lot of speed.

I think that is a realistic possibility for this offseason.
But...
I hope and we need for Fletcher to play. So there is an 6 mil they need to factor in agaist the cap.
I think we should re-sign Fred Davis too.
I think Rob Jackson is gonna be more expensive then they figure.
I don't see why Trent would restructure.
I wouldn't choose Kenny Phillips or Kindle as FA prospects.
Also, Vollmer's injury worry me and I think he'll cost will be more then 4.5 mil/per.
I don't think Kindle will be able to show anything, IMO... The dude had a fractured skull and hearing loss.
Also, Sebastian Vollmer will likely command closer to $9 milion/ year as Jake Long is reportedly asking for at least $10 million/ year. The franchise tag for OT's is around $9.5 mil for the year.
I could see the Kenny Phillips signing. His durability scares me though.
