I agree with this. While I think Ryan is a jerk, I don't know how you fire a guy after having so many injuries. Seems to me Jones feels he needs to shake things up, but doesn't want to touch his 'golden boy' Garrett.

Under Rob Ryan, Cowboys allowed 5,687 yards. Most in their history

Not real happy with the move but we werent dominate in his 2 years either

Why not? Everyone here wanted to can Haslett when he lost both starting safeties and his best player on each edge of the D before halftime of week two.

The defense under Haslett had been slipping for the last three-quarters of the 2011 season, when the defense was pretty much healthy. They continued to get worse up until the bye week of this season. I'll give him credit for turning it around at that point, but there was little evidence it was going to happen before then. If we had lost the last game of the season to the Cowboys I could have seen Haslett getting fired despite the improvement the last few games. But the Cowboys lost, so someone has to pay the price. As others have pointed out, and just like the Eagles getting rid of Castillo, the Cowboys problems lie elsewhere.

I'm looking at it from the perspective of last year he still didn't have a full complment of 3-4 players and they were still learning the scheme and this year injuries took a heavy toll but people still didn't want to take those facts into account. Most people rarely take a full picture approach to looking at a problem.

Are we talking about Haslett? When the defense plays better while "still learning the system" and then get steadily worse the more games they play, there's a problem. This year the injuries really bit, but in the NFL that excuse rarely saves your job, unless you had stellar production in the past. Haslett has not in defense, and neither has Ryan. I do give Haslett credit however for getting much more out of the players over the last half of the season. I think he's bought himself another year with that turnaround.

Of the Ryan bros, it's become evident that Rex is King Richard, whilst Rob was but King John.

Garrett's offense failed to score when we needed. Ryan's defense was missing 7 starters. He did what he could with what he had. Didn't really deserve to be fired.

Hopefully that means we bring in Lovie Smith.
Just because Garrett deserved it more didn't mean that Ryan deserved it any less. He's a friggin clown who, in nine seasons as defensive coordinator, has never coached a good defense. Ever. I think people must think they are getting Rex when they hire Rob. They do get the ******* part of Rex, just not the coaching ability.

That sucks. I'll miss his sloppy self getting all pissed and the camera crew zooming in on him like he's the head coach. Back to being a nobody.

Understand, I'm no great Haslett fan....but you need to look at the whole picture. Last year esp near the end, when they "weren't playing that well" look a the turnover machine they had at QB and the number of times they were out on the field forever and put on a short field. You can't just say they guy sucks without looking at everything. Last year we also suffered the same horrible safety play we had last year, which also really kills the calls you make on D.

Would be funny if the Jets hired him...

I'm always sad when dallas fires one of their super talented coaches.

I guess the long term moral of the story is if you're a coach and your last name is Ryan and your job is on the line don't play the Skins. It'd be great if we pounded the Jets to get rex fired too. That'd be 3 for 3.

Here's hoping Jerruh replaces him with Juan Castillo....
