AP might be the exception considering his performance this year, but don't act like he's the only player to have a successful return from an ACL injury. There have been plenty of others like Tom Brady, Jamal Charles, Frank Gore, Wes Welker, Phillip Rivers, Edgerrin James, Jamal Lewis...

Paulsen played well, but he's nowhere near the playmaker that Davis is. They would release Cooley or Paul long before they released Davis. Plus his contract can always be reworked.

Actually, a former Redskins player John Brandes (I think that's his name) did the first surgery when he was at Baylor. Maybe "not done right the first time" are the wrong words, but I've seen that in here and on TV being kind of thrown around. Looks like Griffin damaged the previous repair.

He's a FA he technically is released. If he can get healthy, I'd sign him for sure. Coming off surgery he should be relatively cheap. IMO Paulson is nowhere near Davis' ability. Paulson IMO is inconsistent -- inconsistent hands and even as a blocker he can be inconsistent and he definitely doesn't stretch the field. I like Paulson but IMO he isn't a game changing TE, teams don't have to account for him. Davis isn't elite but he's above average and can burn you.

No, it was Mark Adickes the first time, who is actually a former guard for the Redskins. Not surprising, really. College athletes from smaller schools don't always have access to the top medical professionals in the world.

Good luck and positive vibes to RGIII. I think at his age and with his passion and drive he'll be back at the start of next season. We have to take steps to protect him though. I know that when this started in the Ravens game, it was due to a broken-down play, but I hope we start focusing on keeping him in the pocket more. Either way, I'm pulling hard for RGIII. We couldn't have asked for a better QB to come and save this team.

Agreed with this. No way is GP better than Davis, and I love him. And, as you point out, Davis will come cheap--no brainer, really.

No contract to rework, he's a free agent.

He is under the knife right now. I think what people are forgetting here is this ACL was already torn in 2009. How can you compare him to AP or anyone else? It's the SECOND time.

Honestly there are only 2 things that extremely suck about this.
    1. I don't want him to keep having this problem until his career is done.
    2. I wanted him to have a complete offseason with the team.

He works hard and I'm not saying that he's going to suck or not come back strong. I know he can do it, I'm just worried for his future health and growth.

For some reason I just thought of Kramer watching the surgery with his Junior Mints. Yes....he should be in surgery now.

I just have to say that some fans or people in general make me sick. The same type of people that weren't concerned with the amount Robert was running and the pounding he was taking are the now the same people that are "Hoping he'll be ready for the season opener."

I'm the biggest Redskins' fan and want to win too, but I am generally concerned with the health and welfare of people, NOT JUST FOR FOOTBALL. If Robert doesn't play in 2013, I could care less as long as he's given a chance to HEAL PROPERLY. I was one of the few people that didn't care if returned for the 2012 season, considering he was out there limping around on a sprained knee. I hope when he's done with football he's still able to walk normally without chronic pain like so many retired players.

As much as I want to win a Superbowl I understood 2012 wasn't going to be the year, and as a fan I was willing to look at his future development as the number one goal of the season. Robert's growth as a QB was and is, to me, the NUMBER 1 priority, and building a solid roster around him should be second. Now like a new toy on Christmas we've broken him, and will probably do so again due to Robert's competetive nature and the organization and fanbases desire to win.
