Thread: This may be blasphemy, but I kinda now wish RG3 was on a different team....

Default This may be blasphemy, but I kinda now wish RG3 was on a different team....

Either that, or Kyle needs to go. Just like every other die hard redskins fan, I have very much fallen in love with RG3. His speed, skill, athleticism, potential, smile, and attitude has enamored me since the very day he was drafted. But Kyle SHanahan is in the process of ruining the teams future as well as RG3's...and Mike shanahan is allowing it to happen. I sat there every sunday of this season watching RG3 get treated like a punching bag, and I cringed everytime he got hit. I held my breath every spread option play or designed run, just hoping RG3 would make it out of that play alright....and I'm sure every other redskins fan felt the same way. Heck, I can't really imagine how his mom was able to watch her son play without her having a near heart attack every time the ball was snapped.
Sure, RG3 is a tremendous athlete, but he's still just a 22 year old kid. Remember what you were like when you were 22? Were you ready at that age to take constant hit after hit by 200+ pound men whos goal was to hit you as hard as possible?
The team spent a lot of picks to get RG3 and the Shanahans hung him out to dry every play like RG3's come a dime a dozen. It almost makes me wonder if the Shanahans actually even care about the long term future of the team and RG3, or are they just focused on finishing positively in the few years remaining on their contract....what I mean is; they are playing for the present. Both coaches may not be here 3 years down the line, and it doesn't matter to them if RG3 is healthy or not once they leave.
The real problem is obviously the stupid spread option crap. This a a horrible scheme. They need to start molding RG3 into a regular QB who can run a regular offense. Having RG3's ability to scramble should be a bonus, not the main focus of the play calling....Kinda like aaron rodgers. The Shanahans showed no effort to transition RG3 into a normal NFL qb. Even in this last game when he was noticeably injured, they could not even begin to call soome normal plays for him. They just kept on making him run and putting him out there with the 'wolves'....and now look at the result.
I love RG3 so much, that at this point, I almost would rather see him on a team that cares to protect such a valuable player, and mold him into the champion that he can be. Instead, we all have to sit and watch him pick himself up off the ground almost every other play.
I'd say the best case scenario will be if Kyle S. gets a head coach job somewhere this offseason. I wish the best for RG3 and the Redskins in the future.

Edit: as expected, I am taking a lot of heat for this thread. But let me remind you of this: RG3 has already torn his ACL twice within 4 years. And as of right now, RG3 has been in the NFL for less than one full year and he has already torn his ACl, LCL, and had a concussion. Doctors are already talking about him never being at olympic speed ever again and the possibility of this injury being lingering. Suppose he ends up like vick where he cant complete a full 16 game season? Wake up people and open your minds to all opinions and possibilities. All i am saying is that I love RG3 and want the best for him.

Nominate for dumbest post of the day. Sorry dude, if you are scared to watch RGIII play, cheer for another team. If you think you can run a better scheme for him, send your resume to the Skins, I'm sure they'd love your input.

RG3 never got injured on any of the read option plays. His injuries came on scrambles while trying to extend plays (vs Atlanta and Baltimore)

He was actually fine injury wise with the read option and adjusted after the Cinci game where he took several hits.

Add to that, Griff is still learning how to protect himself. I don't think it's a bad scheme, just his execution of it needs finessed. It will get there. I do think that this injury will help him develop more as a pocket passer. I am betting there will be less designed runs for him next year.

So should Belicheat have been fired after Brady tore his knee up?

What about Harbaugh because Alex Smith got hurt WHILE HE WAS RUNNING!!!! OH NOES!!
