Everything I have read suggests going with the Altras, almost purchased the Nimbus last week because I am getting pissed, stopped myself though.
I can't help I'm afraid ... I don't really look at the different shoe types. I'm sold on Nike Frees for now, and the benefits that the flexible soles have on foot strengthening. I have four pairs, one with close to a thousand miles on that I still use. With the heavier structured shoes (I used to wear the Nike Zoom Structure Triax) once I got around 500 miles they seemed to feel stiff. The Nike Frees are like slippers and the reasons they'll be dumped is the uppers wearing out.

I do this routine twice a day.

Towel stretch.. Hold for 30 seconds, release, hold for 30 seconds, release, hold for 30 seconds. Make it hurt, and hold it. You want to feel it in your hamstring and calf.

Toe Stretch. Same thing. Hold it for 30 seconds, release. Do it three times. .

Yea, that's a bad example in retrospect. I do it barefooted so I can really tweak the toes.

No one has recommended prayer, yet, as a solution to the OPs issue.

If the problem requires stretching you should try yoga. I just to have a lot of ankle pain and flexibility issues with my right foot which lead me to physical therapy which worked so so. Started doing yoga afterward and it completely knocked out all the problems I had in the past.

I too, have this. I got a pair of shoes that had no arch support whatsoever for walking the dog in wet conditions. It's in my left leg and I do notice that I'm compensating with my right side. I do the towel exercises and also the toe stretch like Stadium-Armory posted in #17. And I'm getting arch supports for every pair of shoes I wear regularly.

And man, it does hurt like crazy!

Concur with Dr. Rosen Rosen that wrapping works. My general practitioner taught me how to wrap my arch with tape (similar to this picture) before golf and it made a noticeable difference.

Obviously you aren't one of those people if that's what you think it is.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."
