This is why is like the hire. Trestman has a proven track record with great NFL players and I think he shouldn't have a problem coaching in the league. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than Chip Kelly.

If the Bears want an elite offense they had better find some lineman who can block. Firing Lovie Smith was a bad move IMO - I dont see Trestman as an upgrade.

I think the Bears window is closing anyway - some key parts on the defense are getting older and need replacing and they need a total overhaul across their offensive line. Bottom line for me, as talented as he is, I just dont trust Cutler either.

I hope Trestman doesn't take the "Cutler to D.Hall" play out of their playbook for our game against them next year.

Thanks to Soup for the sig!

I think Trestman will do well, I don't get why there is such concern about hiring a CFL coach, the last CFL HC to switch to the NFL that I can remeber was Marv Levy. Make all the Buffalo Bills choke jokes you want, but most fans would go crazy for 4 straight SuperBowl apperances. Sure the CFL is different, but so is the college game. In fact, i am more impressed that a guy can be successful coaching in the NFL & CFL than a guy who is only successful at coaching in the NFL or the NFL & college. If you can be successful playing 3 down football on a larger field, that shows me that the coach can adapt to his team/situation as oppose to guys like Nick Saban who is a my way or the highway type of guy that only works in college and doesn't work at the pro level. A guy like Saban can coach a team that he builds realyl well, Trestman can coach up what you give him.

don't worry, I know Oskie Wee Wee....before Marv Levy there was Bud Grant, who left the Blue Bombers to coach the Vikings. Went on to coach in (and lose) 4 superbowls - seems to be a trend for x-CFL Head coaches.

So did Norv. Not saying that Trestman is Norv but until you actually have the mantle of Head Coach in the NFL you never know who is going to succeed.

Where Cutler goes, that play goes. No worries.

The Bears need to find a DC and improve the OL

The Bears are the Redskins in year 1 if Zorn

A good but aging defense running on empty, a great running back with about one season left in him, no wide receivers, bad OLine, and a frustratingly underperforming QB

That ship is badly in need of dry dock repair. Referencing the OP, this coaching decision is only a bold move if the coach does what is needed, a complete rebuild. My guess is he will take the Zorn approach and try to hold it together with wire and duct tape
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."

Probably just a brain fart for you zoony, but the Bears have Marshall and Jefferey at WR. I also disagree about Forte being on his last legs, but that's a minor difference because he probably only has 2-3 years of good play left even in the best case scenario. Agree with everything else though.

You're right I forgot about Marshall

It still doesn't seem to matter though. Something is missing on their offense, and it isn't just the O-line. They have always made funny play calls at important times. I don't know it its Cutler, but they just always seem to be less than they should be.
