Default Coaches on the 2013 hotseat

Well, the 2012 firing/hiring season is almost over. Only the Cards have an opening left. 8 coaching turnovers this year. Alas, the coaching hot seat never rests and in 2013 these coaches will be on the hot seat and fighting for their jobs.

    1. Jets- Rex Ryan- he probably has to win a playoff game to keep his job. They will eventually hire a new GM who probably will want his own guy eventually.

    2. Titans- Munchak got reprieve this year but in 2013 he must show results or he's gone.

    3. Raiders- Dennis Allen needs to have a better second year. Marc Davis probably has a little Al in him,

    4. Panthers- Ron Rivera also got a reprieve. Panthers probably need at least a winning season to ensure he gets another year.

    5. Lions- Jim Schwartz probably can't afford another losing season.

    6. Cowboys- Jason Garrett- It's playoffs or else. This will be his last chance. Jerry will probably go after Gruden if Garrett fails.

Are of of these 6 a lock to fail in 2013? No, but they will be on the hot seat. I don't think the coaching turnover will be as high in 2013 as it was in 2012.

I think that is a pretty solid list. I agree with them all.
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."

I know it sounds silly considering he's won two rings, but I'd put Tom Coughlin up there. Seems like he's always on the hot list in New York, and back to back missed playoff appearances would cause those fans to riot.

And how much longer does Marvin Lewis last in Cincy? I like the Bengals talent but they gotta win a playoff game at some point.

yeah, idk why coughlin isnt on that list...i mean, the giants had a PERFECT opportunity to win the division this season, and they lost games that they should have won. they are bad in the final half of the season. if that happens again and they miss the playoffs next season, im sure mara will want to fire him.

How about Gary Kubiak as a sleeper? He's been there for a minute now. Don't they have to expect some real postseason success at some point?

I think it depends on how they play next season, the good thing is they are pressed against the cap and have to resign Cruz and a few other players. If their play continues to drop off and they finish 3rd in the division again Coughlin could possibly be fired

I could see Kubiak on the as being on the list considering the Texans played horrible down the stretch leading into the playoffs and taking into account they had at least 2 weeks to prepare for the Pats and still played as bad as they did having played them less than a month earlier....ain't looking good for kubiak.

I'd add Leslie Frasier as a candidate to Rdskns2000's list as well

I'd definitely add Kubiak to the list.

At some point, the Texans are going to have to do more than just be soild for most of the season.

I think Kubiak is going to have to show some post-season success in 2013 or else.

I'd also put Coughlin on the list, but whenever his tail is on the hot seat his team pulls out a championship lol.

I could see him being on the hot seat in 2014 if he misses the paloffs this year. I doubt they'd fire him 2 years removed from his second SB win.

I thought about all 3 coaches- Coughlin, Lewis and Kubiak.

Coughlin- I think his 2 superbowl wins in 5 years still buys him time. I don't think he would be fired but I could see him retiring in 2014. The Giants would really have to stink for him to be fired. The Giants were only one win from the playoffs.
Lewis- If it were any other owner; he would be gone. Mike Brown is cheap; so as along has the Bengals at the same level they have been; Lewis be around. The Bengals would probably have to have a couple of losing seasons in a row for Lewis to finally get the ax.
Kubiak- I don't think he will be on the hot seat in 2013. 2014 yes.

How many great candidates are really out there? Also, maybe Jerry Jones decides to fire Garret this season after all. He is firing everyone else; might as well fire the head puppet.

Cardinals HC vacancy filled by Bruce Arians. Got to say that I am happy for him. Don't know how he will do but it was a long time waiting for him.

    Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Bruce Arians has accepted four-year deal, with a team option for a fifth year, as head coach with Arizona Cardinals.

    Further down the road, but.....
At the end of 2014 season, both Bruce Arians and Chuck Pagano will be out of a job. Even Arians can't win with the Arizona QBs and ownership, and Pagano will be done in by unrealistic expectations stemming from the success against the Colts '12 cakewalk schedule.

Jason Garrett - Jerruh' likes his puppets, but this one won't get the job done in 2013.
Ron Rivera - On the hot seat for all of 2012. The strong finish in 2012 kept him safe for 2013.
Jim Schwartz - Will be gone if his team continues to play like goons and underachieves. 2011 is starting to look like an abnormality.
Rex Ryan - Should have been fired after 2012. Not sure why he's still there.
Munchak - I don't think Tennessee is comfortable as a 5 win team with this guy, he's gone.
Marvin Lewis - Has a Norv Turneresque record of 79–84–1 (.485), 0-4 in the post season. At least Norval actually won a few playoff games.

Sleeper: Kubiak. I agree with the posters above that he could be a surprise hot seat candidate.
