I'm a little hesitent to post this because I'm worried that I'm waaayy off base, but...
My favorite part of the uptempo offense (as I understand it) is the amount of additional practice reps you get. I remember Michael Lombardi (on an HTTR podcast) say the team was likely to have about 60 reps for Griffin, if IRCC, and none for Cousins, thereby limiting his development.
Kelly runs... was it 90 plays? (120? Can't recall). That's quite a difference. Say 21 weeks of practice in TC and the regular season (I'm sure I'm off there, but work with me), with an increase of a third in reps. That's the equivalent of 7 addition weeks of practice each season? Maybe I'm a moron that's looking at this all wrong, but if I'm not... wow.
With so many more plays, you can give your backup QB 1st team reps, you can add new wrinkles faster, get the role players and rookies more PT etc.
The problem I see is that they restrict teaching time on the field. Seems that correcting a guy immediately is far more beneficial than waiting til classroom time.
