I never thought I'd find myself defending hunters. I don't hunt, I never ever could shoot a beautiful animal, and hunters tend to be A-holes who polute more than the average person.

With that said if you do not understand the value of hunting to the overall deer population you are simply misinformed. There is a reason coltrolled hunts are created by those trying to protect the deer population.

DNR says they think this coyote and his pals have been running down deer here. OK by me,, they are everywhere. I'd rather ol' Wile E. get a meal than my car hit one on a dark evening.

You do realize that animals eat other animals, right? And the means by which they kill one another is rather brutal? And the fact that they are partially eaten while still alive? Trophy hunters get off on killing. 99% of other hunters do so as a connection to their family past and to provide food for their family.

In these hard economic times I challenge others to find a cheaper source of food for their families, and if they know how to process the deer then it costs about $20 (storage materials, bags etc) for 100 pounds of meat, you'll find no cheaper food in a Walmart. Even if you pay to have it processed it is still incredibly cheap.

We have a coyote in a field that our neighborhood backs up to, we have seen him a few times, doesn't seem that scared of humans, and he keeps the neighborhood cat population in check.

As an aside, coyotes have been spotted in the park behind my house. That may not seem like a big deal, unless you know how urban my location really is. I am smack dab in the very middle of a dense city.

Apparently, they came across the Golden Gate Bridge in the middle of the night a few years back and settled in. Here's a fantastic clip of one about 200 yards from our best friends' house.

Funny you posted that...the only coyotes I've seen were by the GG Bridge in SF.

That being said, I split my time between DC/NY and where my house is (right outside of the city), I got a homeowners association letter a few years back about Coyotes being in our surrounding area. Just the normal warnings about pets, trash, etc. I haven't seen any here in the DMV, but I know that they're out there.

Only losers and morons hunt. No exceptions. You get off on killing, you're the lowest form of life. Bunch of pansies.
Wow, how dare people kill animals to feed their families, bunch of morons, and those jerks that hunt and donate all of their meat to homeless shelters, what a bunch of ass hat slack jaws.

Yep, which is why we buy our beef and pork from a local processor, all naturally, grass fed locally raised beef and pork....the old ways are the best.

Cars and deer don't mix well, personally, one would think you as a vegan would prefer people using the nourishment that nature provides over roads being littered with dead deer that suffered a long slow painful death.

I was out rabbit hunting a few years ago and had a coyote come at me. Just from the way he was acting he was sick. It took 4 .22 shots to bring him down. He just kept coming and coming. Not fast just a slow head wagging meandering path towards me. I usually won't shoot a coyote for sport, but there was something definitely wrong with this one.
    A young spring-tender girl
    combed her joyous hair
'You are very ugly' said the mirror.
    But,
    on her lips hung
    a smile of dove-secret loveliness,
for only that morning had not
    the blind boy said,
    'You are beautiful'?

I still can't believe how big it was.
far and away the most interesting part of this story is you making a conscious decision to chase a coyote with a golf club in your hand. Well done sir.

Nothing more than (another) drive by troll. I was actually curious if you were going to come back and qualify or even defend your statements here.

This has been a pattern for too long.
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."

I had a coyote in my front yard this spring. It was kind of terrifying.

I keep a 'rattle box' by the door. It's a metal box that i put about a dozen dice in... shake it and it makes a hell of a noise.. My neighbors sometimes let their large dogs (some pits) roam .
the box scares them back home.

I wonder if a coyote would run?

I see them often around here and hear them almost every night. I think I've had one stop to acknowledge my presence once. They're usually galloping off somewhere.

Unless you have very small children or small dogs there jus isn't anything to worry about. Coyotes are skittish and make themselves scarce. They're more interested in field mice than anything.

    And roadrunners. They love roadrunners.
