Well, the Seahawks reached a lot (and overpaid) with Flynn. He was a 6th (7th?) round pick who had one good meaningless game against a horrible defense, then cashed in. I wouldn't call Flynn a "potential franchise" QB (any more than almost any QB is a "potential" franchise QB), but he was better than their other option in Tarvaris Jackson. They drafted Wilson, and his beating out Flynn just shows that they made a bad investment.

If there was ever an actual case for 'outplayed their contract'

but they killed that idea in the new CBA... I think they are not allowed to renegotiate until they have completed 3 years. I think even if Seahawks wanted to give him a new contract, I do not think they will be able to.

This is same for us when dealing with Alfred Morris.

I think the other poster might have been referring to Kaepernick there.

well I was assuming the poster was referring to Wilson since this thread is about him and the poster did not specify.

Although I think both deserve a new contract, I think Wilson is more deserving of the two because Wilson outplayed the contract the whole season. Although Kaep has shown up big last few games, I would rather see what he has for a full season before I throw a big contract his way.

In reality though Kaep is the only one that is eligible to get a new contract and Wilson is not.

    Russell's dad looks hispanic.

And Colin Kaepernick always looks like he's trying to be a teenage skateboarder. He really needs to update his wardrobe to something other than what Justin Beiber wears.

Even Kaepernick isn't eligible to get a new contract yet, I believe.

According to the new CBA, I believe rookies have wait 3 years before they can get a new deal.

    Kaepernick has only played two.

So if Russell is of East Indian decent...and he married a white chick...

...does that make him a curryball brother?

He actually started two games. One of which was against Detroit and the other was against NE. The Patriots were the #3 passing defense (in yards) that season. He put up 3 TD's, an INT, and a 100.3 QB rating. He looked good in limited time but it was still a gamble considering it was two starts.

Yeah, I remember that game well. It was a Sunday night game at Foxboro. He looked terrific. Also remember the home game vs the Lions. It's not that big of a surprise that he got that contract. Kolb got a bigger one, and he didn't do much of anything before then.

No doubt he's played his way into. But your completely right. It would set a horrible standard. Besides, it would be real stupid to sell the farm on one season.

I don't know how anyone can watch RG3 and Wilson play and say Wilson is in RG3's league. Wilson remind me of Newton. He breaks free on a few good runs, but his throwing is lacking. Wilson is a good comparison to Vick, while RG3 is just not the same type of QB. As you mentioned, the only thing Wilson was better in is TDs thrown, which is really not a significant stat. Throwing a slant or a fade on the 2 yard line isn't a great judge of skill, especially when you have Lynch. I suppose that case could be made for just about every stat, but nevertheless. I'd take RG3 over Wilson any day, even with what we gave up.
