While I didnt fist pump at the end of Titanic, I did resist the urge to put my foot through the TV. There was more then enough room on that wreckage for two people. And she had a comfy boat that she gave up. If Leo would have been alone at the end instead of babysitting this stupid girl maybe he could have been sitting pretty on that warm piece of wreckage.

This video sums up my frustrations about that movie perfectly.

Ok, I actually wondered that myself LOL! But then I thought about it and knew if he got on the door they would both be somewhat submerged. Him being the man he was, gave his life to save her's. See, that's what a "real man card" should be all about!

On the subject of crying more details are required. A tear or tearing up at the sight of some overly heroic moment of tremendous sacrifice may be allowed... but if that lower lip shakes or that sobbing is involved a violation has occured.

Ok, what about The Notebook or The Pursuit of Happyness? That scene when Will Smith was sleeping in the public restroom with his son was a doozy! Everybody, IMO, could have balled there eyes out on that one without risk of losing their man card.

    What is "The Notebook"?

If you mean loudly and emphatically crying when you say "balled their eyes out" the answer is no. This is only allowed when loved ones have died and vengeance has been delivered violently to those responsible after which a man has earned a pass and any men witnessing this event will disregard it and deny it ever took place. However there could be exceptions on crying in general in those situations. Would doing so have increased the man's chance of having sex or landing a lucrative business deal? Exceptions for cash and ass exist with in man code though there are divergent philosophies in these areas.

If you have to ask, then you truly don't understand this mancard stuff.

Nope and nope. Never saw Pursuit all the way through but I did see that scene. I feel like a movie that makes a man cry would have to contain A.) A dog. B.)Sports C.)Some type of action movie with a man overcoming impossible odds. D.)Any combo of the 3.

Let me ask you something Brandy. Did you cry at the end of Armageddon?

ML, ML. This could possibly lead to me un-friending you on ES.

You get a warning for that buddy but don't let me catch you saying "un-friending" as if it were a threat again.

Yeah, that word is kind of suspect, now that I think about it.

That was a beautifully tragic scene in PoH and was very powerful but I didn't cry. I could understand people that did even guys especially, fathers.

I am not the type to cry over chick flick or love type movies but I have shed a few tears over certain movies a time or two. I think that depends on the situation and movie personally. I can be impacted by something and appreciate the moment every without it being the emotional type of woman crying over a movie that would result in losing my man card.

Also, another example recently was I had a friend who instead of coming out on a Saturday to play football decided to stay at home and then later through FB we discovered went shopping that afternoon with his woman. His man card has been requested.

Men are never allowed to sob, or "ball" their eyes out. They are however, allowed to cry.

As others have stated, crying over a dog is always acceptable. Crying over a loved one is usually not, though not because it is less sad but because it is usually predictable and we have seen it coming, thus it is not shocking.

Crying over a noble sacrifice is acceptable. Crying over serious hardship usually is as well. A man making an honest to goodness effort to put food on the table and provide for his family, and failing to do so, is usually okay to draw a tear or so. Similarly, EVERY man is allowed to cry at Shawshank Redemption. Different men cry at different scenes, depending on what hits home the most. For me, it's the seen on the roof where they enjoy their beers as free men. You're allowed to cry because it's places things we take for granted in perspective. Crying at the end is, of course, okay as well.

Crying at the end of Titanic is NOT acceptable at all, because it's a terrible movie with a romance that's comical at best. It's very Romeo and Juliet, and hard to emotionally attach to the characters. Few men can sympathize and place themselves in Jack's shoes and few men know women like Rose to which they can make a connection to. Men don't care for the "tale of two cities" style romance. In addition, while Jack could NOT have fit on the door without buoyancy causing them to sink, he could have easy found another piece of wreckage to climb on and held her hand to stay near. Come on!
