Default NFL.COM: Jerry Jones: Jason Garrett won't call Cowboys' plays

    This is getting hilarious...

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...-cowboys-plays

The uncomfortable offseason in Dallas continues. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said coach Jason Garrett will no longer hold the offensive play-calling duties.

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com passes along word straight from Jones at the Senior Bowl where Jones announced that Garrett will no longer call plays. Jones strongly intimated that offensive line coach/coordinator Bill Callahan will call the plays moving forward. Multiple Cowboys reporters said that Callahan will be the play-caller, although that's not officially confirmed. (We'll assume that Callahan won't sabotage things.)
The funny part is this coming on the heels of Tim Brown accusing Callahan about throwing the Super Bowl when he was HC of the Raiders. Callahan isn't exactly known as an offensive mind.

And then there is the whole thing of kneecapping your head coach by making these decisions. It didn't work with Zorn, and I don't see it working for the 'Boys.

:If this decision was made in conjunction with Garrett (and not against his will), then this doesn't mean much IMO.

But if Jerry is strong-arming this on Garrett then

I highly doubt a young NFL coach beginning his career would voluntarily give up a large portion of gameday control. Jones has been talking about this for a while, without much word from Garrett.

It's different than say, Reid, who knew he was on his way out.

Jerruh is setting the table for Garrett's failure.

New OC, new DC, new defensive scheme. I predict ESPN calls for a Dallas Super Bowl!

An offensive coach never wants to give up play calling of his own free will.

First he mentioned Glory Holes and then said something about being uncomfortable. Glad he's not our owner.

Doubt it...Garret said publicly he planned to keep calling plays and wanted to do so.

So, yeah, I'm pretty happy about this.

Pretty sad when the fate of Jason Garrett rest in the hands of Bill Callahan. Garrett gets paid this year and fired next year and then someone will scoop him up fast to be their OC. No worries with Dallas this upcoming year.

Well, Jerrah better not cross his new Coordinator else they will be sabotaging some game on offense. Luckily for the Cowboys those games will all be regular season.

They need to blow up this team.

Dear God, please don't let them blow up this team.

I love Jerry Jones. I hope he lives until 100.

Really Dallas I am not worried about going forward for the next 5 years. That core of Witten/Romo/Ware/Ratliff/Spears is aging and injured.

Dez Bryant is a head case.

I am worried about the Eagles the most, but lets see what Chip Kelly does. This is our division for the rest of the decade
The hotter the heat, the harder the steel, no pressure no diamonds, we compete, we win

We are the next decade of the Washington Redskins

    God bless Jerry Jones.

The best part is that this story feels like something Dan Snyder and Cerato would have tried to pull off and sell to fans in the past. Things might not perfect here and there is still a long way to go, but stories like this just make you smile and appreciate how Dan Snyder has moved out of the spotlight.

While I love hearing this kind of thing coming out of Big D, I still get uncomfortable flashbacks of when this was us. BINGO!!!
