Out of due diligence. I think Mike Shanahan has the same philosophy as Belichick about looking at guys with a lot of potential. If Russell were to get to the point of being able to play again, and if he were considered to be a potentially better 3rd QB than Rexy, why wouldn't we look at him? It's not like there's any commitment - it's just a look-see.
BURGUNDY AND GOLD IN THE 'VILLECerrato-Free Since 17 Dec 2009!!!
We have RGIII and Cousins under contract. Assuming RGIII is ready for the start of next season I would be surprised if we carried 3 QBs - last year was the first time we had under Shanny and that was only because we had two rookies at 1st and 2nd string. I would expect us to have zero interest in Russell and if we carry a 3rd QB it would be on the practice squad. I just dont see any role for a guy like Russell on this team.

Anybody that would even remotely entertain bringing Russell in (even for a "look") makes them a fool. If this fatass was as serious as he claims he is about getting back into the NFL he would've already been WELL below 300 ****ing LBS. If that's not an indication of his work ethic and desire (or lack thereof) I don't know what is.
Stop. Just stop.
Guys like Russel and Young should be dominating the NFL. It's too bad no one designed an offense that could capitalize on what they do well.![]()
Jim Haslett is a horrible coach.
Redskins 2013 Opponents:
Home- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City, San Diego
Away- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Denver, Oakland
I'd rather see if we can get Nick Florence then even contemplate this dude.
You will give the Redskins an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders.
High as ****.
Even if I wasn't I'd still be in tears about this and an "NFL Cookbook" from him![]()

Jamarcus takes too much flak, I think he really is misunderstood. I am rooting for him to make a comeback 100%, that would be an amazing story and I don't think at heart that Jamarcus is a bad guy. He couldn't control his weight and gets accused of being lazy which I think is unfair. To be honest I don't think anyone would have succeeded on that Raiders team and the fact he was only given about 2 years of play before being thrown in the garbage is pretty unfair. He is an overrated draft bust, mainly because of his perceived attitude and because he played for the Raiders. He might not be a starter but I think he is talented and is better than a lot of back ups in the league.
He gives charity back to his hometown of Mobile, he housed dozens of people in his off campus apartment during Hurricane Katrina (including Fats Domino) and giving Thanksgiving turkeys to homeless shelters during Thanksgiving . This isn't what a lazy thug does. He is misunderstood and I for one hope he finds work in the NFL again. He had 11 family and friends die wracking his mind during his tenure at the Raiders.

Put yourself in his shoes instead of casting judgement, in my opinion.
He could be our 3rd QB in case of emergency and provide offensive line depth.![]()

I think it's fine to root for him to make a comeback, it's not like he killed anyone, so I don't think anyone is actively rooting against him (that I can tell, at least.) I would remind you of the fur coat and bling that gave people the impression that whatever he "Gave back" it was more than balanced by him enjoying his money in ostentatious ways. Now, for some guys, I think that's not an issue. But at QB, I don't know, it indicates an attitude of someone not ready for leadership (I know, I know, Joe Namath..but that was a different more conservative time in football.)
As for giving out turkeys, come on, TONS of athletes have done that. Hell, Nino Brown did that in New Jack City. It's actually a fairly common PR practice and if the Deadspin Q&A with a publicist is near the truth, then a lot of guys manage their image but don't give a **** about anyone else (in multiple sports.) That's not to say JaMarcus is that way...only that the turkeys thing is kind of a laughable mark of his spirit or character.
I hope he does make it back, no one wants to see wasted talent. I think people DO remember the drugs and how he got busted, I believe, for having a lot of the ingredients or the drink itself. Was that related to dealing with loss? Hey, perhaps. I'm not judging that he got himself in a hole but a lot of people persevere and work through it better. That said, it could be that he just was never going to be ready as the #1 pick. I'm not entirely sure he has great love for the game, either.

Love all this talk about Russell being a dual threat qb. I hate to pull the race card, but anyone saying that just assumes that black qb= dual threat. Kirk Cousins is a bigger dual threat.
