Tim Tebow = Jim Jensen = A Great Fit For Redskins

I really hate the idea... but under these conditions it may be worth considering:

1) late round pick, maybe even from future years--this year's draft class is deep with DB's
2) put language in his contract that he will never play under center for the Washington Redskins...so don't even ask
3) make it known that any reporter that asks about Tebow playing QB will be excommunicated from the press conference and banned from future contact with the team and Redskins Park

With all the attention swirling around RG3's knee, I just don't see Shanahan or Bruce inviting this circus into their bed. (I do think Shanny could handle the circus better than Rex)
Tebow could be utilized as a HB or TE...I like DY better at FB though

This team could take Tebow and not miss a beat. There is no controversy because RG3 and Cousins are far from Mark "Butt Fumble" Sanchez. The question is will he accept a role as TE or whatever.

The only reason Tebow became a freak show in New York is that Ryan was too afraid to finally play him because doing so would have proven that he should have been playing all along. No way anyone can convince me that Tebow would not have beaten the likles of Tennessee down the stretch while Sanchez throws pick after pick.

If the Jets had simply given Tebow 10-12 snaps a game I am certain that they could have beaten out Cincinnati for the final wild card spot.

Tebow WINS games!!!! They may not always be pretty but 7-4 with Denver and beating Pittsburgh in the playoffs is good enough for me!!!

Do you know how many guys taken in rounds 3-7 are in the NFL five years later? The percentages are crazy. Go back and take a look at the names of the 230 or so guys taken in those rounds three years ago and tell me how many wound up being impactful football players.

Tebow is big, fast, and very skilled....he is a great athlete. He also has experience playing football at some pretty high levels. Good coaches can take a player like that and make him an asset.

Again, read my opening paragraph about acquiring good players. You just talked yourself out of bringing in someone because you aren't sure he will have a role. Instead, I like the idea of collecting talent (especially on the cheap) and then figuring out the best way to utilize it. You must have a good staff in order to pull this off...I'm confident now that we do. It should always be a competition...always. If we bring Tebow in and he gets outplayed by DY, Paul, Paulsen, Helu, etc... then you can admit it didn't work out and move on. But my suspcision is that if Kyle got his hands on him that he would be able to find creative ways to work him in....and Tebow with the ball in his hands is more dangerous than DY, Paul, or Paulsen.

Tebow is not fast...ran a 4.7 combine....who knows if he can even catch. The learning curve from qb to any other position is dramatic. I would rather take my chance of drafting a young college kid. BUILD DEPTH.

I think tebow is too stubborn to accept a role change, but it would certainly be interesting if he did. I'd love to see it because I agree that he is a talented guy.

Do you really want the media attention this would bring, though? I find it hard to believe the team would be able to deflect it.

Given the way this season ended with everyone bashing Shanahan, with RG3 coming off surgery, and with Cousins possibly preparing to start in September...the media circus of Tebow might actually benefit this team. It could take a lot of attention off of some other players or coaches who may not want it.

I'm not against any move that might help give us an edge. The teams that are succeeding are the innovative ones. Nice thread!

No, the teams Tebow is a part of win games. Like Denver's D shutting down the Bears all day while Tebow doesn't do crap, and then the Bears screw up and don't run out of bounds and then later they screw up again and fumble so Tebow can "lead" them to two 50 + yard field goals. Yeah....Tebow wins....or that wonderful 2-20 something showing against the Chiefs last year....and just to finish up, last year against Pitt, the Steeler D was missing about 7 starters and Ben was playing on one leg and they still went to overtime, and all Tebow did was throw a ten yard pass that the reciever turned into an 80 yard play. The next week playing a team that went to the SB, Tebow looked like a high school player against the worst D in football. Thanks, I'll pass.

I don't get the insistence that he can't be permitted to play QB, yet he should be ramrodded into another position for which he has absolutely 0 experience at any level.

Receivers take years to learn how to run routes. Fullback is a position that requires incredible vision and chemistry with your halfback. If these positions were so easy to learn there wouldn't be so many horrific TEs and FBs.

I would take Tebow here as a 3rd string QB only if he weren't as famous as he already is. I think the accuracy thing is way overblown. He threw for like 67% every year in college. If he were in our offense, with the way we run the pistol zone-read, he wouldn't need the pinpoint accuracy that he would need in other places. Our receivers get pretty damned open - RG3 fits balls into tight windows maybe 3 or 4 times per game. For the other 20 passes he throws, the receiver has at least 2 or 3 steps on the nearest defender.

Unfortunately with Tebow comes the spotlight and the media so this could never happen in real life. But if he weren't the spectacle that he already is, he would definitely be worth bringing in, IMO.

I am not suggesting that he come here and be our starting quarterback, good gracious... I feel very comfortable with Cousins as our #2. But how could having Tebow come in on 3rd and 5 be a bad thing? Heck, imagine Tebow lining up as a WR then coming around for a reverse... whether we pitch it to him or not it would confuse the heck out of the defense...Quadruple Option anyone??? And if Cousin starts the first 6 games due to RG3 being on the PUP, what a heck of a change of pace QB... in the red zone...are you kidding me... there are no deep balls to throw... just darts and that kid running off tackle!!!

For 2 million a year??? Send Redskin One on the first day of free agency!!!

8. The media starts to ask if Tebow might play QB or why he isn't playing more wildcat
9. Rex Ryan insists Tebow is a great QB, but that he still has faith in Sanchez
10. Sanchez has the worst game of all time Thanksgiving night, including the butt fumble
11. Rex still doesn't play Tebow
12. When Sanchez is finally benched, Rex passes over Tebow and starts McElroy
13. Rex insists they are still comfortable with Tebow at QB
