I enjoy this message board a lot. Information comes quick and is pretty accurate. Speculations are always interesting and fun. There are also members that are well educated in the game/team. Heckling fans that come to the board is usually in good spirit. Mourning losses can be over dramatic, but it's nice that others feel something similar.

This thread is an aspect of the board I dislike, however. In my opinion, it's unnecessary and immature. The old sayings are, "Don't treat people how you wouldn't want to be treated," and, "Don't stoop down to someone else's level," or, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all."

You can say that I need to lighten up and this is all in fun. In my opinion, people are just using the anonymity as an excuse to be immature. Would you show your wife, your in laws, or your boss what you contributed to this thread? Would you, when sober, say these things to someone's face? If you wouldn't do it in real life, why is it all right to do it online?

Remember that younger people also read this message board. While you may be able to control when/where you behave this way, you're teaching the younger generation that it's not only OK to act in this manner, you're showing them that you get applauded for it.

Meanwhile, I can't accord your criticisms serious merit even given the reasonable (if basically shallow but still "sure, of course" and generically "nice") sentiments you express. I don't think I need to detail why, beyond that, other than maybe "gratuitously pretentious" as one other summary.

Speaking for myself, and as some here know, when not in my professional role I am much as people find me here on ES. Like many humans, I have a wide range of possible behaviors.

I have always stated in the forums (and in 3D land) that I reserve the right to meet anyone on the same ground they choose to meet me. I am as capable of being "above a fray" or "taking the higher road" (often a misplaced or ineffective pretension itself) when it comes to a response to another's provocative behavior (and when appropriate in my estimation do so), as I am ridiculing, or satirizing, or mirroring it for whatever reasons I may choose.

I have plenty of justified comfort, born of long and varied experience, in my judgment in such matters, even as flawed as I am.

I'll also give you another reason to like this board---it's been known for sometime "paloffs" is a duplicate account for you, which is typically a rule violation that results in a permanent ban, but I chose not to apply it to you all this time, and you've been good.

Why do you consider my praise of the board "shallow"? Just because I don't agree with every aspect of the board doesn't mean I'm insincere. I prefaced my disdain with praise to show my overall view of this message board - one of my favorites to visit.

Secondly, why did you mention my second account and the consequence of the offense? I'll be honest, I'd prefer if you didn't ban me. I'm not going to act tough and say, "Who cares? Ban me. I double dare you!" I'd very much like to maintain my privilege of being a part of this message board, especially since (as you know), I've been a part of this message board for a long time. However, if you choose to enforce that consequence or ban me for some other reason, that's your prerogative and I won't argue it. That said, I think you're trying to use a scare tactic to keep me from disagreeing with you. If that's your intent, you're going to have to ban me then.

Try reading and thinking before reacting, amigo. First, it wasn't your praise I challenged--I used the words "your criticisms" to make that clear. You missed it (which I actually predicted). Second, (back to my "thinking first" suggestion) it's obvious that if I felt you should be banned I would have done it before---I mean that should be obvious, no?

Again, knowing people and this board, I predicted you'd have to make some superfluous response to that comment, and kudos to you for not denying the dupe acct., but you topped my negative expectation by also being insulting. So let's deal with that, now.

To think I need some "scare tactic", or even care about whether you agree or disagree with me, and as long as you've been posting on the board and should have some awareness of what I'm like on this board that would persuade you otherwise, is simply stupid (as well as insulting).
