The following things are *NOT* real: Easter Bunny, Great Pumpkin, Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Good Government, honest politicians, the Boogeyman, and the Redskins Season Ticket Wait List.
Joined ticket wait list: Fall 1985
Got season tickets: June 1 1999
Upgraded Seats: Summer 2008
Green Parking: June 1 2009 (weird huh?)
Lower Level \ Club Seats : When I win the Lotto!
Tailgate or TouchDown Club : When I Win the Lotto again!!
I agree with this but I don't think anyone on here is really complaining. I didn't start the thread to complain, but simply to pass along information that many of us were curious about. However, one thing that is a bit incorrect with your logic is you are assuming that someone is only paying for one ticket. I take my family and we have 4 tickets, so to me that's over a $400 increase, not $160. I can probably live with the $400, but if it goes up next year, then again the following year (if we have very successful seasons) then like many on here, will have to strongly consider the at home HDTV, which like you say, really isn't bad at all. :-)

18 teams raised their prices just between 2009 and 2010. We haven't raised ours since 2006. I don't think it is unreasonable for an organization to periodically adjust the price of tickets.

Considering they have gone up once in 7 years, I don't think we can expect annual increases even if we are good.

I can live with an increase in general ticket prices after six years of not having one. What chaps my ass is the 10% Prince George's County "Amusement" tax we get railroaded with each season.
LCA, I wasn't responding to you directly, just the posts in this thread is all and I did think about those with more than 1 seat as I was writing what I did. I still would love to have ST for what it's worth. Thanks for passing along the info and I hope that you and the family can keep the tickets!
Thanks redskins21. I'd have to assume that anyone who is upset over it will come around once they realize it is not THAT big of an increase, especially considering we haven't had an increase in so long. I tell people all the time that I think our prices are somewhat reasonable compared to other stadiums. Like most season ticket holders, I was fully prepared for an increase this year and if it's only 10%, I certainly consider that reasonable. 10% once every seven years - I will take that EVERY TIME! :-)
We also had 100% more wins than the previous year. 10% price increase for 100% more wins....DEAL!

I think an increase like this is sort of a league standard, right?
"It's like catching a stack of pancakes."
Sweep the leg.
Yes, but the team has largely sucked in that seven years, and its usually a pretty bad move from a PR perspective to raise prices when the team is doing poorly. Look at what's happened with prices during Snyder's reign. Talking lower bowl admissions, went from $60 to $75 in 2000 (after we made the playoffs), then a very small increase to $79 in 2002-03, and then another big one to $109 in 2006 after we made the playoffs. You can point to there being no increase in 2008 after we made it again, but Gibbs had just left and another increase coming on the heels of the massive one two years earlier wouldn't have gone over well.
And don't get me started on parking.......it was $10 when the place opened. It didn't take Dan long to start jacking that up. And even though I think its absurd to have to pay $40 to park a car, the price hasn't gone up in some time, so the increase in and of itself isn't too bad.
And don't get me wrong.....neither in my mind is the 10 percent increase in ticket prices......I was expecting a lot more. But its going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the future. On the one hand, we've had evidence of Leonsis who (from what I've read) has raised prices for several years in a row now as his team has done relatively well. But on the other hand, you have Snyder, who even though he has a hot property in RG3, has recently had to tear out over 10K seats from the stadium, which probably was caused by not only the team doing poorly, but by the fact that the home experience with HDTV is so much better now.
We might not see the large increases that we did earlier in Dan's tenure, but these smaller increment increases wouldn't surprise me. It'll be interesting to watch.
I would be very surprised to learn that the six year span we just completed wasn't a franchise record for longest sustainment of ticket prices. It might even be a league record.
I still wouldn't be surprised to see further seat reductions at Fedex. I believe there are still enough vacancies in the lower bowl to move all OV STHs to unobstructed seats. The Owner's Club level could someday be completed all the way around the upper 200 level, as seen in the 1996 plans for JKC's stadium.
I think it should be on a sliding scale. If the previous season was a losing season, drop the season ticket prices say by 2% per loss. If the 'skins have a winning season, than raise it 2% for every win above .500. Pay for the product.
I don't really mind the price increase but for crying out loud don't charge me full price for Pre-season games. I can't even give those games a way usually, this years final preseason game on a Wed. night? Would rather have watched synchronize swimming then that.
On a somewhat related note, Superbowl ticket prices are the cheapest I've ever seen for the Friday before the game. Pairs are listed at just under $1200 per seat. I don't recall seeing anything under $2000 over the past decade since I've been watching the market.
IMO this relates to us bc ticket demand for just about all live events is declining in the digital age.
I knew this would be the main point being thrown around against the ticket price increase. That's why I pointed out that 18 teams increased prices before the 2010 season. I didn't bother to check each and every one, but it's safe to say that a lot of them weren't very good (we know that at least 6 teams weren't in the playoffs in 2009). Teams raise prices because operation costs increase.

I don't like the ticket price increase at all.
While it's true they haven't raised them in a while, there are many factors that contributed to that. The team was awful, the economy wasn't great and there is a league wide decrease in attendence.
There should be an incentive to be a season ticket holder. We are putting out cash many months before the 1st snap is taken. Instead of getting a discount, we pay a premium over market prices especially when factoring the pre-season tax. In the last 2 years, they have decreased supply (removing seats) while the demand has not increased that much. There is an overall decline in NFL attendance throughout the league, so much so that they have changed their longstanding blackout rules. There is no financial incentive to being a season ticket holder as buying tickets to all 8 games (even a playoff game) would be cheaper than being a season ticket holder.
Parking? For that amount of money, you can park overnight in Manhatten. PG County is hardly NYC.
On the bright side, we don't have PSL's.
