Redskins Grantland: "The Wonderful and Weird World of Thuzio" (Garcon + Others)

Happy off-season, everyone. I cannot wait for the ball to get rolling again.

I was reading up on Grantland.com over the weekend and came across this story. It's by Rembert Browne and it's titled: "The Wonderful and Weird World of Thuzio" (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...athletes-price)

Long story short, it's a website (that Tiki Barber created) where the public can pay a fee for some type of service with an athlete. These range from $100 for a phone call to $1,200 or so for a player in a certain radius to attend your fantasy draft. All of the athletes listed have different pay scales for different services. Sounds a little like another industry for me.

Regardless, I started poking around on the site to see if any Redskins were on there and, lo and behold, the first player listed is Pierre Garcon. Here is his profile: http://www.thuzio.com/pierre-garcon.html

For 5 large, you can take Peter Waiter out for a meal. There are some other options available as well.

Here's the rest of the list that comes up under a "Redskins" search: http://www.thuzio.com/catalogsearch/...y=0&category=3

I'm not exactly sure how to feel about this website, but hey, if they want to pick up some side coin and people are willing to pay, so be it. I just thought it was something interesting to check out or discuss during the slow part of the off-season.

Hopefully some of this goes to charity. Otherwise I'm not really a fan of the idea.

I'm going to pay the money to have a phone call with Brunell, put on some 2005 game tape, and scream "THROW IT DOWNFIELD!" for the entire time.

Also, the video of the boxer who trains wall street types is just priceless.

You can tell Tiki has a pretty good sized ego by looking at his description. Everyone else's description, even the great players, starts out like "He was a running back", "this man was a tight end." Tiki's says "Tiki Barber enjoyed an illustrious career. He was a three time pro bowl running back" Even Eric Dickerson's intro just says he played 11 years and was selected 2nd overall.

If this is Mark Brunell's only job now, no wonder he's broke...

I'm not surprised retired/washed up players would participate in something like to make a buck. I will say its odd to me that a player like Garcon who just signed a big contract is involved.

Meh, doesn't really bother me. What players do in their free time is their business, as long as it doesn't negatively affect their performance on Sundays and isn't breaking the law.

Who is this Jamarcus Russell guy on that website, and why does he want payment in cough syrup?
