I left out the big names because that's too easy to break down. I'm curious about the bodies that will add much needed depth to positions we'll address in the draft. Personally I want to see how we use Helu, will Minnifield amount to anything? And will Merriweather or this kid Neild be able to help out?

I left out Carriker, Davis, and Orakpo cause I feel they will return to form for the most part, but I love seeing someone from nowhere come out and deliver for us. We love those stories like the Ryan Clarks, Antonio Pierce, Lorenzo Alexander, Chris Clemons ( Who I felt we shouldn't have let go, he was a gret pass rusher), Albert Connell, Mike Sellers, Jeff Bostic.

Not trying to say those guys were hurt then performed, but guys we pick up, progress slowly and become stars in the league.

Chris Neild intrigues me only because I remember reading a couple of years ago, being a late round pick players said he was picking up the D very well, and had 2.5 for us in 2011 in a position, at least for us, hasn't delivered in the sack department since Cornelius Griffin.

For our sake, I hope it's Meriweather...We saw a half of what he's capable of. We need to see a lot more

    Roy Helu is the pick.

I'm going Meriweather. All of them, aside from Jackson, suffered serious injuries, but the thing with Meriweather is that he has the easiest fight to the top of the depth chart.

    Assuming they all are healthy:
Helu - behind Morris, and likely fighting a draft pick
Bernstine - likely fighting a draft pick and/or post draft FA pickup (Rhodes and Lynch are still out there)
Jackson - suspended until August, at a minimum, I doubt he's our plan A.
Neild - fighting Cofield, Baker, and possibly his own mental blocks about what his body can do, ala. Jenkins for the first 8 or so games of last year
Minnifield - fighting Hall, Wilson, Biggers, and Crawford, and probably a draft pick.

Meriweather isn't blocked by anyone on the roster, and we likely won't draft a SS early enough for them to be a threat to the starting job.

Of course, we shouldn't forget Orakpo, Carriker, or Davis. I know they've already had good seasons here, but would it not be a little surprising if Orakpo had 15 sacks? It's not impossible.

    Helu.

Everyone is writing him off but when he is healthy, he is a hell of a change of pace back.

please Merriwhether. It was almost the difference between having a safety at all, it seemed.

Honorable mention to Nield. With Carriker out, Jenkins was forced in and kinda screwed up the depth. Jenkins can nose or DE, and if Nield's going to be anything, I would hope its nose. Shanny's said himself, nose is pretty much the most important thing in the defense. There wasn't freedom to try Jenkins or Nield at that position last year. In the event of another DE injury, or god forbid something with Cofield, I would like to see Nield beast in the middle. Who knows, he looks pretty good to me, and I'm sure the 7th round pick is fine with the not-so-flashy role. know what i'm sayin albert haynesworthh?

    Where's RG3 on this list?

Brain Orakpo. Contract year, he has had lots of time to recuperate the injury and is at 100%. Should be getting into his stride as a player and pass rusher, and his complement Kerrigan is better. I think he could surprise people as far as just how good he'll be this season.

Yeah Merriweather and Helu are both good picks. Either you could make a strong case for.

Meriweather was beast mode in the 1st half against Philly. I truly think he is going to not only to shore up a hole, but I'll go further & predict he'll be a downright star in this defense in 13.

I agree with this especially on ES a lot of people have convinced himself he's a one-trick pony and a bum. I think it'll be a lot of fun to see him back on the field.

I'll be surprised if Mereiweathers not on IR again in 2013.

I'll be surprised if Jackson plays a down of football again. Let alone here.

And I'll be surprised if everyone left over from the poll, Chases health not withstanding, aren't all part of the 53 week 1.

    I'm surprised out.

    Hail.

Has to be Meriweather. I understand if you think Helu but for me, his lingering foot issue worries me.
