Default I feel like I'm taking crazy pills....

At some point it has to sink in that we lost our number two corner, our number three linebacker, and a wide reciever who didn't even get 1000 yards last season, right?

I love smoot. Was my favorite skin, and I'll still root for him.

But how can this be a disaster? In what crazy world is this cause for genuine concern?

We still have Springs, Arrington, Taylor, Griffin, Washington, all of whom are better players than the guys going out on defense.

And Lemar marshall came in last year and played just as well as pierce.

Somehow, the fact that garnell wilds shut down randy moss escapes these pundits.

And coles, well, I loved coles too, and thought he was a great posession reciever, but what people don't realize is that we are saving money by cutting him now. He wasn't producing at the level of his salary, and starting next year, he's going to be off of the books entirely.

Coles underperformed last year, and I was screaming that in just about every gardner bashing thread that came out last year.

These mves aren't great. They are sad and painful, but to somehow find them devastating just doesn't ring true to me.

You're right, it's not devastating...it's unfortunate, yes...disappointing (in the case of Pierce and Smoot), sure...melodramatic (in the case of Coles), definitely.

    But devastating??...Not on your life.

Ironically enough, after the season ended, there was all this talk about how the Skins should consider trading LaVar Arrington because it was felt the defense could succeed nicely without him...it's all Williams' scheme and how the players adhere to it that counts. At what point exactly did the group think veer from that line of thought, and suddenly make Pierce or Smoot far more valuable than LaVar could ever hope to be??...

I think the negative aspects of the Coles trade seep into the loss of 2 important defensive players. The cumulative loss feels large at first and maybe for awhile. Better that this is done now. Time will calm the masses until the draft when complaints will ensue over the draft picks.

um... im pretty sure coles was never ever considered a possession receiver...

hes recorded the fastest 40 time at FSU, which is 4.16.

thats not a possession receiver, my friend
    pipes.

i ride with this squad no matter what the roster or coaches do. either support your squad through whatever or go down to carolina, they could use you right about now.

my big ol' sack, and that's real.

He was pretty much used entirely as a possession receiver last year.

Sure he's fast, but he has great hands and is not afriad to go over the middle

every single one of our wr's last year was used as a possession receiver because that's how our offense was.

Coles was 4.16 (maybe). He's not the same Coles anymore.

Couldn't agree more Ignatius J. People are throwing temper tantrums like a bunch of 4 year olds that didn't get their nap.

Reminds me of those Fed-X comercials............................

Coles was that fast pre-toe injury. Not anymore or ever again unless something drastic happens.

Well put Ignatius J. I am in total agreement.

This team his heading in the right direction, there just happens to be few bumps on the road to success.

I guess it all depends if your cup is a quarter full or three quarters empty. Losing Smoot and Pierce hurts. They were key players on our defence. Smoot had three good years and was a leader. Pierce had two and was really strong last year. Both were solid citizens as players and guys who fought with a lot of heart. Coles also played with a ton of heart. I am torn on him because if he hated it that much... still, he was arguably one of our best offensive player last year. His loss will be felt in continuity if nothing else. Right now, the only relationship Ramsey has gametime with receivers are Cooley and McCants (assuming Gardner's gone too) I think we Redskins fans deserve a grieving period now. I guess it's all up to which stage you're in. Anger, denial, etc. It hasn't been a good offseason, so far.
