Default WP Feuding with Baltimore Orioles as well?

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and I don't have a link handy, but I caught in the Washington Post Express edition this morning that the Washington Post has been accused of falsely reporting that Angelos was actively blocking the Washington Nationals from getting a TV deal.

Is the Washington Post trying to alienate all of the local sports teams?
I lost the Clinton Portis sig bet for the 2010 season...

It's called reporting. National newspapers are not the public relations department for local sports teams. Angelos loves to control everything just like Danny and are invariably unhappy with the press coverage they get.

I heard about this yesterday. It sounds like it was Boswell just going after Angelos, as he always does, accusing him of trying to block the Nationals from being seen in the DC area. That wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if that were true, but it seems too ballsy a move, even for Angelos. The O's didn't like the column, and put out a full page ad denying it and claiming they are working hard to get a deal done so both teams can be seen in the DC area. We'll see what happens. The seeds have been planted though that if a deal isn't reached, Angelos will be blamed. And you thought he wasn't popular in DC before all of this, imagine if it came out that he purposely blocked the Nats from being broadcast on TV in its home area!

BTW, this probably should be moved over to the Tailgate.

Most of the things the o's/peter angelos, were complaining about were editorials done by people such as boswell. They seemed to be more opinion type articles. They were trying to show the good people of DC that angelos is not a jerk, and they failed becasue the post ad made them look like "rich bullies" who are just clamoring for more money and the ability to push around the ew team in the area.

This has to do with a letter to the fans by the O's that was very funny this weekend, Angelos is trying to screw the nats we all know that except him.

Well it is laughable to think the O's/Angelos would put that letter into the Post and expect people to say "You know that angelos isnt that bad," i dont know if was expecting to garner good press from that but i think if that was the case his missed his mark by quite a wide mark.

Ask yourself one question, why has it been so hard to get him to agree to a TV deal with comcast then?? If they said you both get 50% I don't think we would be a couple of weeks before the season started with no TV deal, don't you?

He is fighting MLB saying his team deserves more, why else don't you think he hasn't agreed to compensation yet??

I understand you are an Oriole's fan, and I was until Angelos ruined the team, but it is obvious what is going on here, it is called grandstanding.

Angelos is trying to get the best deal in negotiations with MLB that is fair. It's already his network. Why should money be distributed evenly when it's his network? that is the base of his argument. MLB simply wants to make as much money as possible from the sale of the team. They don't care about the long term effects are.

I also wouldn't call what Angelos is foing as grandstanding either. He simply wanted to clear up the mininformatiopn that the Post was printing. Angelos is not the boogeyman who sneaks behind the scenes to screw over the nats. he wants what is best for his club.

The problem is that he is going to want the majority of the profits plus charge a fee, that will more then likely be more then reasonable. So if your gonna take most of the profit fine, but dont charge me to join then take most of what i earn. That selfish, not that anything else would be expected from him.

If what Angelos wants is such a bad deal for the Nats (by proxy of MLB), then why does MLB want it so bad?

    Doyler -

i think they want it for the reasons you and me were talking about earlier....to appease angelos so there is no legal ramifications and so they can get everything straight and seel the Nats for as much $$$ as possible. I would be hard pressed to believe they are 100% behind the TV deal just because.
