    PGA owns Comcast?

And that's a question, not a smart-ass response. Unless he doesn't..... and your knowingly spreading misinformation.

No, he doesn't own comcast. He Owns broadcast rights to B-more, all of MD, DC and most of VA.

If the Nats went their own route, they could only broadcast in the DC Metro area. If the Nats partnered with the O's, they there games could be seen everywhere that O's games are now. So in a sense it's like he has a network, but actually, he just has the rights to broadcats the O's to a substantial amount of people other tham Bmore.

That is a lot different then what you were saying about owning Comcast.

How can he own rights to an area where his team is not? If I were the Nats I would say screw Comcast and do their own. Offer WDCA 20 a lot of money to start its own baseball station.

Regardless of the money thing if the Nats join the O's, everything is skewed towards the O's becasue its the Orioles broacast network....therefore i have a feeling there might be some negative publicity thrown in the nats direction. They then are at the mercy of the orioes schduling them on tv. If both teams were on at the same time, who would DC see? Whoever angelos's network put on...more then likely the O's.

So the deal that MLB negotiates shold be to pay him, and allow the nats thier own broadcasting rights not some hand me down broacast chance from the money grubbing angelos.

He owns the rights to an area where his team is not becuase when he bought the Orioles @ the highest privce ever for a MLB team, the territory in which the O's broadcast came with it. It's now his territory for broadcasting indefintly. Now, if the Nats wanted to hook up with WDCA 20 and make their own network, they could, but they wouldn't make the kind of money they could by partnering win the O's. Especially since DC20 isn't even a cable network.

It's my assumption that if the Nats and O's partner, then all the games for both teams will be on tv, weather they have a split signal or alternate channel when the two teams play at the same time. ESPN does a similiar thing with DirecTv, where they have ESPN and ESPNa when it's colege backetball night.

The Orioles (and I assume the nats would do this too) often sell the rights to 15-20 games to local broadcast stations, which are on regular tv and not cable. Those are the "O's TV games" which usually apear on WDCA 20 or WB 50 in DC.

That makes sense...i dont like it of course...but it makes sense, i still think the nats should try and find a way to get thier own tv broadcast....take it a little bit south and a little west, but angelos will fight that kicking and screaming. The problem is there isnt a fair and efficent way to solve this, IMO.

Well, Angelos doesn't think that he needs the partnership, but MLB thinks the Nats do, especially since it would push their purchase price up.

Again, spreading PGA's propaganda. Rights by default do not translate into permanent legal rights.

Of course MLB wants the Nats on TV. The Nats could be an elite franchise, if the proper ownership is selected. And with Cal as president.

Its great to know that the two factions deciding the nats fate are 2 of the most money hungry people around....angelos and MLB as a whole.

"The ad says the Orioles have had exclusive television rights to a territory that stretches from Pennsylvania to Charlotte, N.C., for more than 30 years, and Angelos' group bought those rights when it purchased the team for $173 million in 1993. The ad goes on to say the Orioles Television Network was started in 2001 as a foundation for a regional sports network to serve that territory, and MLB approved the creation of the network and understood its purpose. "

None of that is propoganda or false.

is it me or does it seem like angelos goes out of his way to keep cal away from the orginization? And if thats me just being ignorant, if i were angelos i would bring him in ASAP...kind of like Gibbs for the skins....i mean after all he is the face of that team.

The odds are that Cal isn't tremendously happy with the organization after retiring, and I think he doesn't like being deferred to by the media all the time. But Cal still runs his youth organization with a lot of Orioles money. The O's also game him a minor league team near his hometeam and he still does a charity golf tournment through the O's. He was also @ last years Opening day along with Brooks and Weaver and several others.

Ok just checking...i was aware of the Youth league and the minor league team just not aware that the youth league was affiliated with the Orioles in any way. As much as i would like to have him as a Nat man somewhere, it would be a disservice to Cal, The O's, baseball and the fans to not eventually, and sooner rather then later, get him back in that franchise somehow. And i doubt he would be anything but good for them.
