Default Bufford's (Wheat's) Official: I want Andre Dyson thread

Its been no secret that I've wanted to sign this guy for weeks now, and still, he's not under contract....for some reason I don't understand.

But, looking at his bio on NFL.com, it seems that he would be the perfect replacement for Smooty.

5-10, 183.... been in the league for 5 years.

He had 6 INT's last year.

He's a vet, but still young....he's a solid #2 guy....and would give us at least a year, if not 2 or 3 before Springs most likely will be running out of fuel.

We sign him, then we have more options when it comes to the 1st round of the draft....and it also means that we aren't putting some rookie out on an island at DB..... or even worse. Drafting a guy with the #9, and making him the nickel DB in 2005.

We sign Dyson, then even the Titans are more strapped to take a DB because I keep hearing that they are waiting till the draft before deciding whether to try bringing him back. Tenn could still be forced into a WR situation, which Minny would end up taking anyways. The Vikes then I guess could end up taking a LB like Johnson because Williams and Edwards will be gone. Now we can decided between what DE's we like, or even if the 3rd WR on the chart is work looking at.

Either way, Andre Dyson = good idea.

you make good points but remember, none of us are NFL coaches. If Dyson has been in the league for 5 seasons, then Gregg Williams must have coached him at Tennessee a little. Williams may have his reasons against him, otherwise he probably would have been signed. Also, his contract demands, whatever they are, is he worth signing for the long term when he may not eve be a good #2 for long? As usual, for the right price Id take him. Then we'd have 1 good CB in Springs, 2 almost good in Harris and Dyson. Garnell Wilds and late round rookie can then develop well.

I agree, something isn't being told.

But, he's not going to get a lot of money anywhere now.

I thought Williams left in 2000, to Buffalo.

I'm still all for the guy. He performed in 04. That's all I know.

Seems like a good player, I am just weary of how no teams are strongly persueing him. I would like to see him as a skin I just dont think its gunna happen.

I agree with you Bufford. But I just feel that the Skins want to draft a Corner that will be here a while. You know they have doen so well at picking corners in the recent past...just can't seem to keep them around.

I am all for signing Dyson. Given Springs injury history, I would sign Dyson AND draft a CB.

If we signed Dyson would anyone be more willing to consider possibly trading up for Mike Williams?

We would be SET at CB. Dyson is a solid starter and would perform just as well as Smoot did in GW's system. Springs would still be our lock-down guy, and Harris would continue to excel in nickel. We could also continue developing Wilds, Rufus Brown, and Roosevelt Williams, guys who could all represent the future at that position.

Without any sort of need at CB, we really would head into this draft fairly solid at most spots. We could use a WR and a DE, possibly a MLB, and then just depth. My trade proposition would be to the Titans, and would be sent to them only if MW or BE made it past the Bucs' pick, which I personally think is likely. We move number 9, Gardner, and our 4th rounder to them for number 6 and get our number one receiver. We can still pick up a DE if we so please in the 3rd. I think they would definitely consider it, and I think it is a steal for us, assuming that we get a starting CB through FA.

it would be more possible now. We could always try to package our 1st rounder and Rod to move up a few spots with another team who has many needs. But, that would be a draft day deal.
