Default Why Pacman should get more respect 'round here

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft0...=2042636&num=2

Part of this article was already posted, but only the part about Braylon Edwards. There's more of it focusing on Pacman. I'm a WVU grad and a big Pacman fan and ive been getting sick and tired of hearing on this board how the kid is too small to be a star in the NFL.

    Read on:

    3. Cleveland – Scouts Inc. pick: Edwards, WR, Michigan. The right
pick: Adam "Pac-Man" Jones, CB, West Virginia.
I don't want to hear that he's only 5-foot-10, 190 pounds. This is one
kid that you do not judge by his cover.

Pac-Man Jones is the son of a dead man. In fact, he's the first male
in his immediate family to make it to the age of 21.

His father was murdered at 19, and his father's brother was murdered
at a similar age. That's why Pac Man takes his little brother,
"Squirt," wherever he goes. He takes nothing for granted: not life,
not football. He may look like a thug and talk like a thug, but he has
been virtually adopted by his college strength coach, Mike Barwis, a
strength coach who says, "Pac-Man has what no other corner has in this
draft: a burning desire, the passion of a warrior."

Now let me tell you about strength coaches. They're the people who
know if a player is phony or not. Strength coaches do not hang out
with slackers, and they do not promote slackers. If a strength coach
says a kid is a keeper, then you elevate that kid in your mind,
elevate him high into the first round. Strength coaches know. God, do
    they know.

When Pac Man showed up in Morgantown, W.Va., he weighed 169 pounds and
ran only a 4.5 40-yard dash. Now, I'm not big on 40-yard dashes, in
general, but when I hear that in two years Pac-Man gained 21 pounds
and improved his 40 time to a personal best of 4.27, I do a double
take. He worked at it, lived in the weight room. "My assistant says
he's me, that he's 'a black Mike,' " Barwis says. "Tell me who plays
with more passion and energy. And he's a leader. He's telling guys in
the locker room what he expects from them."

The kid plays offense, defense, special teams and tour guide. He takes
kids from a local hospital and shows them around the Mountaineer
football facility. The way Edwards is Jerry Rice reincarnate, this is
    Darrell Green reincarnate.

I personally liked the last sentence. I WILL be wearing my WVU #9 jersey tomorrow during the draft.

I've been campaigning for pacman pretty much since i heard he wants to be a redskin. I mean to me thats evidence enough that he should be here, much less the fact that his hero is darrell green. I mean the kid is just flat out nasty and i think would be a great corner. I think while we have springs on the other side getting sacks pacman could just rack up the interceptions on the other side. What a deadly duo .... especially with taylor at safety. Just thinking about it gets me excited.

Adam Jones will be a bust in this league. I just hope he's not a bust wearing BnG.

Wow, that just gave me goose bumps.

If Mike Williams is not on the board and Pacman is available then I would be happy to take him. This is coming from a VT grad as well so you know I have no bias. One guy I don't particularly care for that has been mentioned as an outside possibility at #9 is Merriman.

The 3rd guy that I would lnot mind at #9 would be Carlos Rogers. If we stand pat and take any one of these three I consider it a great start to the draft.

I don't know if he's going to be a complete bust but he won't be an elite shutdown corner. No way he's going to be able to cover the new receivers coming out who are 6'2"+ and run a 4.4

Put him on those Peter Warricks and Az Hakims and he'll be fine.

Though this story sounds pretty scary and whatnot, I heard something from someone in my class, who's brother goes to WVU, and apparently is on the football team or something, and knows of Pac-Man. Told me the kid was a thug, not as great a character as there could be. When he signed with an agent, used his initial money to buy himself a really nice set of wheels.

Not sure how true this is, or if he has something against, he said that Jones is still good though, just not as good as the media darling that he seems to be. Seems like this is almost all of the high round draft prospects though anyways.

In no way am I trying to compare Pac Man to D. Green here, BUT if anyone had to overcome size and use his talents to overcome that, it's D. Green. My point is, size isn't necessarily everything at corner. It's probably en vogue, but you can be effective if you have the speed and quickness. With the rule changes, I'd put an emphasis on speed and quickness over size.

I echo these sentiments. No 5 foot, 8 and a quarter inch CB ever going to be a good starter in this league.

If the skins select Pac-man, I will have no faith in this FO whatsoever.

pacman will be a bust this year. yeah he played good in the big east which lost all its talent to the ACC. and he is small people covet this guy b/c he cant punt return so we have moss and moton. pacman's a BUST.

You think we were looking for the next anybody when we drafted Darrell Green? You can't, they just happen. Hoepfully someone will happen to us!
