It's easy to resign a guy, but that doesn't mean he made the team.

Glad to have him back. Still looking for a better guy to be the replacement to Washington, though.

I liked the story - he seems like a real class act. Now let's see if he has the tools to go along with the work ethic and attitude.

Good signing imo.

I like this signing and I'm thinking even more now that we won't draft OLB with our first pick. I think we'll draft some more depth at the position, but I really think we're going to let Fincher and Blades compete for the starting SAM spot.

Yea I was thinking the same thing. Fincher is solid against the run and I think he could definately get some playing time in run situations with this defense. I could see them grabbing a speed guy at the position for blitz purposes. I'm glad they resigned him.

We still need to get younger at LB, and I don't think an undersized Blades and a journeyman like Fincher is going to cut it (Tho, I had heard some things that they could consider moving Macintosh to the strong side).

I think what they are doing is trying to make sure that we don't HAVE to draft a certain position because we don't have a starter. Ideally, you want to pick the best players with your picks and not pick as much out of need.

yeah, he was the man in the preseason. I remember him developing somewhat of a following coming down to the final cuts.

Yeah, thats pretty much it. But right now we have only one position where we have nobody with any starting experience and thats at DE. If we add Daniels or Wynn, then the draft strategy of BPA becomes a more likely one, but right now I see us adding a DE in the draft.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't like drafting for need. But it seems like thats what we're going to do.

Ideally though, I'd like to trade down and just be able to draft some potential playmakers with another stockpile of second rounders.

You sure?

Late November. Cold, sloppy field. Giants have the ball at their own 20, holding a two-point lead with five minutes to go. Brandon Jacobs (6'4", 264) lines up behind Manning ...

Fincher, Albert - 6'1", 238
Blades, H.B. - 5'10", 250

Just sayin'.

McIntosh, Rocky - 6'2", 238

Better, but still leaves me a little cold. Particularly given the issues with his wheels.

What I'd give for a 6'3", 255 lb. SAM with bad breath and worse intentions.

I think it is almost certain that we are going to add a vet of some sort at DE. Drafting a guy in the 1st round isn't going change the experience problem, and I doubt the team is going to go in with just Carter as the only experienced guy on the line.

I also don't see a lot of help at DE where we are drafting. The only guy I'd probably draft that high (Orapko), is probably not going to be there. Everyone else is either very undersized or would be a reach.

I don't disagree with you. I wouldn't exactly feel comfortable with just those guys on the roster either.

There are some other guys on the roster, tho.

Matt Sinclair - 6'2", 245 (Going into last training camp, a few of us thought he could make a run at a roster spot, but he fell short.)

Tyson Smith - 6'2", 250 (Up to now, he's just a guy and has been camp fodder on a few teams. I don't expect much from him, but you never know.)

I also expect the usual run of UDFA to come in and fight for positions.
