Well, then we totally disagree.

Yell all you want, but no one needs to get physical.

VT's wearing the Pro Combat uniforms this weekend? I think those actually look alright.

As for the tailgating issue, I'm with SHF.

Obviously if you wear your team's gear to the opposing team's stadium, you're going to have to deal with taunting, yelling, etc. And there's always going to be a couple really drunk morons that take that a little too far before their buddies hopefully pull them away.

But in the case of DMH28's story, or my buddies that went down to Dolphin Stadium for the FSU/Miami game and were told that their girlfriends would be violated, and one of them came back after the game to find his tires slashed/trash in his truck bed, that's way over the line.

Sports, especially big college ones like basketball or football, are obviously going to be really passionate, but there's zero excuse for behavior like that. That's just being a crappy human being.

The Nebraska tailgating stories remind me of BYU when FSU went out there this season. Supposedly they were the absolute nicest people in the planet, and when FSU fans were leaving the stadium they were just getting congratulated by BYU fans for the upset victory and invited to post-game BBQs in the parking lots and such.

There are some fan bases out there that are truly amazing with how nice they are and how well they keep a college game in total perspective.

i'm with shf on this one.

as long as you're simply cheering your team, not taunting, etc. you should be able to wear your teams jersey to an away game

believe me, i heckled the crap out of the visiting fans while at wvu, but i can say with confidence i never intimidated or tried to intimidate anyone.

Well that game vs Maryland was easy

Yawn

Neat stat I only care about. 18-2 in November since joining the ACC. Good to see that as opposed to the Novembers from 2001-2003

However, October

We should just have one OOC game at FedEx every year

Hokies to play Cincinnati at FedEx Field in 2012
Trip will be Tech's third to the home of the Redskins
November 16, 2009
BLACKSBURG – The Washington Redskins have announced that Virginia Tech and the University of Cincinnati have agreed to play at FedEx Field in 2012.

“We are excited to have Cincinnati and Virginia Tech playing at FedEx Field,” Redskins Chief Marketing Officer Mitch Gershman said. “This game, a rematch of the 2009 Orange Bowl, highlights two outstanding programs and continues FedEx Field’s commitment to hosting the most competitive and nationally acclaimed matchups in the country.”

Information on tickets sales and kickoff time will be released at a later date.

The game marks the Bearcats’ initial visit to FedEx Field, while it will be the third trip for Virginia Tech, joining a 2004 contest with Southern Cal and an upcoming matchup with Boise State in 2010.

The game was originally scheduled to be Cincinnati’s home contest, thus the Bearcats will serve as the host team for this game.

Cincinnati is 10-0 this year and ranked fifth in the country. The Bearcats have won 16 of their last 17 contests. The lone defeat came at the hands of Virginia Tech in last season’s FedEx Orange Bowl.

Cincinnati played at Lane Stadium in 2006 and was scheduled to host the Hokies to open this season. That game was moved to 2012 in order for the Hokies to play the University of Alabama in the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff.

Tech leads the series 5-4 after beating UC 20-7 in last season’s FedEx Orange Bowl.

FedEx Field will also play host to other high profile games: Boise State-Virginia Tech and Indiana-Penn Sate in 2010 and the 112th Army-Navy Game in 2011.

Well that was awkward

On to more positive things. Barring injury, our RBs are going to be quite the stable next year

With his eyes on the goal, Evans rehabs his knee
By Mark Viera
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, November 19, 2009

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech running back Darren Evans had been jogging on a treadmill for 10 minutes when sweat started beading on his forehead. He wore a maroon skullcap over his dreadlocks and a black brace over his surgically repaired left knee.

When Evans began to rehabilitate his knee, the simple act of movement was a struggle.

"It was like starting all over again, trying to walk and run and stuff," he said. "It was weird."

But during a recent workout, Evans ran, jumped, squatted and balanced on one leg, and last week, Evans practiced with the team in non-contact drills for the first time since tearing his ACL in August. Even though Evans is unlikely to play this season, he was so excited to return that teammates overheard him talking to his equipment, telling his helmet and shoulder pads while dressing that he missed them.

"Just seeing him recover that fast is a plus for us," wide receiver Dyrell Roberts said, "because when he gets back, we know the talent that we have."

The No. 16 Hokies (7-3, 4-2 ACC) hope Saturday's game against North Carolina State (4-6, 1-5) will be the last time Evans wears street clothes on the sideline in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech is scheduled to open its season next year on Sept. 4 against Central Michigan. For Evans, the 289 days between now and then cannot go fast enough.

Evans has attended Virginia Tech's home games this season but has stayed behind in Blacksburg for road games; injured players do not travel with the team. While Evans has missed playing, he said he has stayed connected to the program by attending running backs' meetings on Monday mornings and hanging out with his teammates away from the field.

The team's trainers and physicians assigned to Evans have marveled at how quickly he has reached the various plateaus in the stages of his recovery. He has benefited, they said, from an ethic that does not allow for missed workouts and an uncanny athletic and mental capacity that has helped him adapt rapidly to each new phase of his recovery.

"I think he's made a great recovery," Coach Frank Beamer said. "He's a dedicated guy. That's the way he's played; that's the way he's gone about his rehab. You know what you're going to get from Darren every day. I think that's what's got him back so fast."

Not sure how we're going to keep Evans, Williams, and Wilson happy. Wilson already seems a bit perturbed at his lack of playing time. If we throw the red shirt on him next year, we're looking at disgruntled. And what the hell do we do with Oglesby? That dude's a solid back, but unfortunately for him, he's surrounded by phenoms.

I understand it's a "good problem to have" but it could also prove to be a bad one. Pretty sure Williams will go pro after next year but still.
