Default WP: Portis admits he was wrong

CP was just quoted on JLC's blog on washingtonpost.com
as saying:

"When I made those comments I didn't understand the seriousness behind it. I didn't know it would affect that many people and didn't think what I said was that offense But after doing some research and seeing how serious people take this, I shouldn't have made the comments. Hopefully it will die down and people will understand that at that time I had no idea the love people have for animals and I didn't consider it when I made those comments."

While I still do not condone the comments he made, at least the guy has the moxie to do a little "research" to see the error of his ways. I think it is a much more believable apology than the ne he released through the team after the comments were made. So kudos.

(sorry if this is already on ES. I'm at work and didn't have the time to search it thoroughly)

Well I'm glad a) he apologized and b) that it sounds heartfelt. It sounds like he actually took some time to think about it and do a little "research" as you said.

It sounds more like "I'm sorry I offended some people" than actually having researched his effed up point-of-view in order to do a little soul-searching.

A man's point of view is a man's point of view. Just because what he said pissed people off doesn't mean his mind is going to change any. I personally don't agree with what he said but I can't expect him to change his mind because I don't agree with him.

lol, its all good. it was just a stupid statement that he made without thinking that was taken too far by the bored media in the offseason.

Hey I'll take what I can get given the negative cloud surrounding him recently. It's at least a larger stab at damage control then a couple sentences through the FO. I don't think it absolves him of wrong-doing, but it's a start. I don't think he will really win us all back until he rips off a 50+ TD against an NFC East team.

Why is it necessary for him to keep talking?

Why can't he and others just let this whole thing just go away?

Why was the text of this thread so small that I now think that I need an eye exam?

I'm just glad we are 6 replies in and nobody has tried to ban my "new thread" privileges for starting a new portis thread, especially because I'm still kind of a new poster here.
