Default 'Skins Rookie Hazing Stories

anyone have any good skins rookie hazing stories? doesn't appear that the squad over the years has been big on the hijinx. I can only remember sean taylor getting the shaving-cream-pie in the face from lavar (and missing a practice or two due to residual eye irratation!) and ramsey being taped to the goalpost (and being interviewed by nbc).

do the skins have the traditional sing school fight song, rookies pay for dinner or carry the vets equipment? I know some teams are into it more than others and haven't heard much about it from the skins in a while. just curious.

cheers.

I think I read somewhere some of the vets do make rookies carry their gear. Im sure other forms of hazing go on. Maybe Renaldo Wynn can enligten us as to that.

Usually at least one will get taped to the goal post at Redskin Park.

I heard that the rookies, usually the higher draft picks that have the bigger contracts, have to take the vets in their squad, (d-line, secondary, o-line, etc.), to dinner and pick up the tab. I understand that some serious dough is dropped at those dinners.

I've also heard that in training camp the rooks have to sing their school fight song and put on skits for the vets.

Youre right! Had it been like Ramsey .. We would be talking about how its a shame that Sean Taylor crushed him and broke his collar bone the way he did.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. In Ramsey's defense he handled it great.

I was in Carlisle when Fred Smoot was taped to the goal post his rookie year. He had been shooting off his mouth all thru camp and apparently the vets decided to take care of him. It was great watching it all go down after the practice. A lot of fans were leaving but I could tell something was up because a bunch of big lineman were circling around behind Freddie in the end zone. They eventually grapped him, lifted him up against the goal post and two guys starting taping his ass to the post. As I recall Arrington and Lavar were among the players involved.

Smoot was laughing hard and pleading with them to stop. They poured water on him. Then they taped his mouth and walked away. He was there for quite a while. In fact, I think everyone left the field while he was still taped to the post.

It was great fun to watch. I think it was the original "tape the rookie to the goalpost" prank. Smoot got Ramsey the following year.....
