According to Kelly Johnson on Sportsnite just now, Zorn says that portis will sit out most of the Pre-season and will see NO action in the HOF game vs. the Colts on August 3rd. This move is to avoid injury like in Cincinatti.
They will be taking a Ladanian Tomlinson approach to their star RB this season as he is needed to fulfill their championship desires. Clinton did have a minor ankle sprain today in camp, but returned to practice in the afternoon.

That's great to hear there's no reason to risk CP in the preseason.

I agree. If he does get in, make him run a pass play and don't throw to him. No need to risk injury.

Get him 10 carries or even plays this entire preseason, and thats it. That should be no more than 2 games max!

Hell there are certain players that I wouldn't have set foot in a pre season game. Portis is one of them.
Good call, Zorn.

Can't say that i have a problem with this either. It seems that Ankles are the weak link in this years Redskins. Hamstrings are a thing of the past. Sit Clinton the whole preseason for all I care. I want to see the depth anyway.

Awaiting a McD5 comment on Portis' selfish attitude towards the team.

No need to have the most consistent offensive player we have on the team risk injury. Betts could use some practice. Maybe he can work on trying break a run that's longer than 30 yards.

did even clinton say that he was either out of shape, or not really fully season ready because he didn't play a lot during the preseason last year?

I don't know how Clinton was able to swing this, but good for him.
Most of the time I'd have a problem with a guy wanting to skip a preseason game, but Clinton shows up every gameday. I think he's okay to take one off. A big injury to him would really hurt this team. |

That is fantastic news. Good job Zorn. Now bring in Favre and the puzzle is complete.
