Default Bob Sura recorded his 3rd straight triple double tonight

I know i'm probably the only person watching Hawks basketball this late in the season. But Bob Sura got another triple double tonight. We killed the Nets. His triple double was Ricky Davisesque. He intentionally missed a layup, but he did it on the right goal. So it wasn't just like what Davis did.

Who's Bob Sura?

I know who he is but I honestly had no idea he was still playing though!

He's a White guy in the NBA. Maybe this is why ATL is so excited.

Hawks were 17-25 from 3. Jason Terry was 6-8 from 3, he put a severe dickin on Jason Kidd. It was a good game, too bad we don't play the garbage teams like we do the good ones. Our record against teams with winning records is astounding.

Sura was the first player since Grant Hill in 97 to record 3 straight triple doubles. Theyre going to talk about it on sportscenter in a second. Im sure theyll focus on how he got that last rebound.

BTW, Sura is in a contract year. I hope we resign him, but he's definitely bringing his price up.

i tried to watch the game (Hawks fan here!), but it is blocked out on DirectTV, i've only got the baseball and pro/college football packages.

i saw last night that he made it two straight triple-doubles and couldn't believe it... and now three!! that is bad-ass! too bad he had to miss that layup, but he is no punk-***** like Davis.

and you know if he signs w/ ATL he won't ever play like that again. i am praying for Okafor, Howard, or Deng, and maybe some high-profile FA. i have been thinking how sweet it would be to get Kobe. he and Vick would own the town, considered like Gods. Kobe would be the best player in the East and ATL would immediately become a contender.

Yeah, Id love to get Kobe. Its not that realistic though. This years draft is pretty good though, IMO. It doesnt have a lot of great players at the top. But its pretty deep with players who can contribute, either immediately or eventually.

I hope we bring back Sura, Jackson, and even Collier. Collier is a Jacket and fits our style. I want to keep our current style. Lots of ball handlers, and shooters. We don't have an inside game, but we're putting points up. Everyone has been giving 100% on D and the games dont even mean anything. The problem is, theyre not very good defenders, but they definitely are trying. I like the way our team has looked recently. And I actually want to bring Stotts back and keep Billy Knight as GM. We've got 20mil in cap room and I hope some is used to bring some of our players back. Q Richardson and Kenyon Martin are free agent, restricted. If we gave Richardson a big enough offer, the Clipps wouldnt match, thats not their nature. And Kenyon Martin, I say we offer him the max and just hope the Nets dont match. He'd be a nice guy to have on the team.

i would want a leader... okafor would be the guy, as a rookie. kind of odd, huh?

and it is gonna be hard to woo a top FA, because the team has been so bad for so long. crazy, because the city is awesome, just need to work on the sports franchises... need more winners than just the Braves.

Can you still walk up to Phillips arena and buy a ticket to sit behind the players or on the end of the bench? And... do they still have the promotion where they pick a fan to suit up and play in the starting five the first half?

As far as I'm concerned, that last layup cheapened the accomplishment.

It's on par with, or arguably worse than Brett Favre laying down for Strahan.

Or what if the 756th home run Bonds hits (if he should make it that far) is a 30 mph melon served down the middle of the plate by the opposing pitcher? It would be an insult to the memory and accomplishments of Aaron.

Sura showed a lack of class and character by intentionally missing a layup just for personal accolades.

Well guess what, Kurp? The NBA agrees with you.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1781342

ATLANTA -- The NBA took away Bob Sura's third straight triple-double Tuesday, ruling he shouldn't get credit for one rebound because he intentionally missed a shot just before the buzzer.

Sura thought he was the first NBA player since Grant Hill in 1997 to have three straight games with double figures in scoring, rebounding and assists.

But the NBA said his tactics in the Hawks' 129-107 win over New Jersey on Monday violated the rule that states, "A field goal attempt is a player's attempt to shoot the ball into the basket for a field goal."

Since Sura wasn't trying to make the shot, the NBA said, he shouldn't get credit for a field goal attempted. Therefore, there was no rebound.

The journeyman guard had 22 points and 11 assists when he intentionally missed a layup just before the buzzer so he could get his 10th rebound.

"Actually, the ball slipped," Sura said, laughing and not making any pretense at being serious. "All the guys on the team were screaming at me to do it. It was kind of a reaction thing. I just did it."

His intentional miss rekindled memories of Ricky Davis' blatant attempt to pad his stats last season.

Davis, then with Cleveland, was roundly criticized when he tried to finish off his first career triple-double by shooting at the wrong basket, missing and getting the rebound. Before it could happen, a Utah player wrapped his arms around Davis and was called for a foul.

Davis was fined by the Cavaliers, and the league pointed out a rule barring players from trying to score for the other team.

At least Sura was shooting at his own basket when he missed, but the NBA said it didn't matter.

Sura picked up the first triple-double of his eight-year career on Friday, when he put up 12 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds at Chicago. The following night, he had 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds against Boston.

I know its a word that fell apart years ago, but thankfully they didnt allow it to stand.

Strahan didn't make Favre take a fall like that.

What Sura did was cheap.
